Our General Membership meeting on October 1st will be held at the normal time - 6:30 PM - at the BP Energy Center. Our Guest Speaker will be Tom Logan, Chairman of the Board of Fly Fishers International and owner of North Florida Fly Fishing Adventures

The first part of the meeting will be about FFI. We are an affiliate club and encourage all our membership to join their organization as well. This meeting will explain why you should seriously consider it.

Then Tom is going to give a presentation about the Tallahassee, Florida are where he lives and the fly fishing opportunities there. A nice change of pace for us since we have no warm water fisheries here.

And if you have Photos for the Photo Contest, you can bring them to the meeting. Last day to submit is October 9th! Entry Information and submission form are HERE.

Tom Logan, Chairman of the Board of Fly Fishers International and owner of North Florida Fly Fishing Adventures is in town to do a presentation for our Monday, October 1st Meeting and has graciously agreed to host a Fly Tying Clinic incorporating some patterns and techniques we don't normally see for fishing here. You can find more information about the clinic on our Calendar and at this page - Special Clinic with Tom Logan.

This is a Members Only Event and is limited to 15 tiers. (If you want to come pay to watch, that's allowed and does't count toward the 15.) Contact Rich at Rich@2GuysFlyFishing.net if you want to tie.

It's time again for our annual Kenai River Cleanup! Set-up is on Friday September 7th, the event is the 8th, and fishing on the 9th! Come on down and help us with this important project. Each year we and several other organizations get together to help restore the rivers and roads around Cooper Landing back to a clean condition. We pick up trash, discarded fishing tackle, and monofilament to make the streams safe for wildlife and pleasant to spend time on for us humans.

On Saturday we will have hot drinks, food, and trash bags available for everyone to use. In the evening there will be a bonfire, a hot meal, and entertainment!

Stream Hydrology is the topic for this month's General Membership Meeting on July 2nd at 6:30PM at the BP Energy Center.

If you know how the stream works and why it acts the way it does you can parlay that knowledge into a better understanding of why you find fish in the places you do and how to predict more places that you might not have previously considered!

You won't know if you don't come to the meeting!

    MAY MEMBERSHIP MEETING

    What are others doing?

For the May’s General meeting, I have put together a panel of five Alaska Fly Fishers (AFF) members.  The panel members are Bob Churchill, Jan Schnorr, Bob Wallick, JP Wood, and myself.  I know over the years, as I string my rod for day on a stream, river, or lake, I have asked myself what are other members doing?  When I am out on one of the local lakes, Jan Schorr’s and Bob Wallick’s names always come to the top of my mind.  I keep running into JP on the Anchor or see the photos of the fish he has caught and released.  As for Bob Churchill, I wanted a chance to listen to him and see what I could learn.  For myself, how could I put a panel together and not be part of it.

Looking at 40 minutes to provide information to AFF members and friends, we will not have a slide presentation.  I have asked each member to speak for about 5 – 8 minutes about how they fish, where they fish, and any tips they may wish to share.  Hopefully, there will be enough time to answer questions.

I cannot guaranty that you will learn where anyone on the panel fishes.  I know that it was impossible to get that information out of anyone when I asked them to take part in this panel.  I do believe it will be fun and you will gain some experience from the panel that may have taken us years and few dollars to obtain.

So bring your questions and lets have fun sharing information.  Hopefully, it will become a Cub favorite meeting.

    Keven Kleweno

    Co Vice President

    6:30-8:30PM. Public is welcome.

For directions to the BP Energy Center, please see the Home Page.

Board Member Scott Work has been helping Chugach Optional School with a request to teach a couple of classes of school children to tie flies. He has had one session already and they've asked him back for a second session. It's going to be on May 4th.

He's looking for a couple of people to assist on this expedition so if you like kids and fly tying and wouldn't mind donating a couple of hours of your time on the 4th, please contact Scott via email at WorkScott@yahoo.com
